Description

The Thermalution® Power Heated Undersuit is the world’s first battery powered undersuit, designed to keep you toasty warm, even in the coldest conditions.  Powered by two 7.4 volt Lithium Polymer batteries and worn under your wetsuit, drysuit, or even winter jacket, the Thermalution® will spoil you on a cold day.  Whether you are in the water surfing, diving, kayaking, or kiteboarding or on dry land hunting, fishing, or snowboarding, this suit will change the way you feel about going out on a brisk winter day.

Thermalution® is by far the warmest heated wetsuit product available for surfing, kiteboarding, kayaking, SUP, or any other top-of-water sport!  Equipped with DOUBLE THE BATTERY POWER of other Heated Wetsuit products, you will immediately notice the heat difference when turning on the heat.  With a weight of only 1.5lbs, the only thing you will notice about this suit during your session is the warmth.  With three levels of adjustable heat, the Thermalution Surf Series allows you to change the temperature of your wetsuit during your session adding more warmth when you are cold or even turning it off if you start to get too warm.  The Thermalution Surf Series gives you absolute control of the amount of warmth in your suit.

Run Times at Various Temperatures:

Low: 2 Hours 15 Minutes

Med: 90 Minutes

High: 60 Minutes

Thermalution® uses Far Infrared Ray technology, which doesn’t just heat your skin like many other products.  Thermalution® actually heats deep within your core, giving you improved blood circulation, enhanced cell and tissue regeneration, pain relief, and comfort to the entire body.  You will be amazed at how much more comfortable you will feel after turning on the suit to even only the lowest of three settings.  Once you have a session in a Thermalution, you won’t ever want to venture out on a winter day without one!

Similar to any base layer clothing (like Under Armor®) Thermalution Undersuits can be worn beneath any wetsuit, dry suit, or jacket.

Wearing beneath a wetsuit

The Thermalution Surf Series suit is designed to be worn beneath your wetsuit to give you the added warmth needed when your core temperature needs it the most.  Thermal protection of a wetsuit is limited to insulate your body and minimize heat loss. The more sealed your wetsuit is, the warmer you will feel.  The Thermalution Surf Series has the ability to get extremely warm.  If you are in a DryLock or other High Quality Chest Zip WetSuit like our Isurus Wetsuits, the low setting will be the only setting you need to use.  However, if you are in a suit that frequently flushes a lot of water in through the neck, you will need to use the higher settings to account for more water entering and exiting the wetsuit.

The Thermalution can be worn with any of your wetsuits, allowing you to get into thinner neoprene earlier in the Spring.  Adding the Thermalution to your 4/3 will keep you out of the 5.4 for longer than all of your buddies.  Thermalution generates heat instead of only been able to reduce heat loss. By wearing Thermalution® Power Heated Undersuit beneath your wetsuit it distributes the heat through whole body by the water underneath your wetsuit.

Battery and Controller

Thermalution Heated Undersuits use two 7.4 volt Rechargeable Lithium Polymer batteries. (Charger Included) Battery Size: 4x2x0.5 Inches.

There is no danger of radiation, electric shock or explosion from these batteries. Batteries are compact and lightweight and are positioned outside of the undersuit at the sides of the chest, under the arms. It offers maximum freedom of movement and it’s easy to change batteries.

Thermalution micro controllers are easy to use. To turn on the undersuit push and hold button for 2 sec. On start up it displays a green light and starts temperature on low. Push once more to change to medium temperature with an orange light indication and once more to change to high with a red light indication. To turn the undersuit off simply push and hold button for 2 sec.

    Love the vest

i live and surf in Santa Cruz California. I have gone thru 2 rip curl heated vests over the past 3 years. Usually I'm surfing 4-6 times a week using a heated vest 85% of the time. The Thermulation vest is less intrusive than the rip curl, heats up quicker, stays warm longer and I have not needed any setting beyond low. I love it once I'm in the water. The only reason I gave it 4/5 stars is due to its set up time and I question how long some of the components will last. I think as long as you are careful and take your time connecting, donning, removing and unconnecting the vest and its components you'll be ok. Unfortunately time, cold and environment dictate the amount of dexterity you have in your hands and limbs and I worry the some of the connectors and the thinness of the skin may not stand up to time with regular use. Other than that I love it.

Extends the Surfing Career of an Old Man

They probably don't sell a lot of heated wetsuits in Southern California (although I did see another Thermalution vest once) but I’m 67 years old and we go surfing in Ventura (which is a little up North) in the winter and I get really cold. I put the vest on while I’m still inside the truck and while it’s still dark and windy and freezing outside and I feel better about changing into my wetsuit outside. It works fabulously and makes things much more tolerable. For the days before we would go in the cold, I would worry about it but, having the vest, soothes me psychologically. I just bought my second one.

I'm 65 years old and have been surfing 53 years, now I need the extra heat !

Guys this has and will add a whole bunch more years to my surfing out here on the Central Coast of California, like I said I'm 65 and surf in water that's in the 50's. The first time in I surfed 3.5 hours and the way the heat is transferred to the upper and lower back, is right where it's most needed. Only needed the lower setting, and shoulders and lower back were not tight due to loss of body heat, just love the stoke !!
Truly great product and feels so good to have that extra warmth!

    I LOVE THIS THING!

I have only used it twice so far, but I know that I am going to surf much farther into the cold weather because of it. I used it on the low setting in mid 50 degree water. My back stayed warm and when my suit was flushed with cold water it warmed my back up again very quickly. I hate the walk back to the car from the ocean after surfing when it is cold - I freeze! The undersuit kept me warm for the walk and while I changed in to dry clothes- it was the last part of my wet gear that I took off. It does everything as advertised, starts heating up immediately, batteries last at least two hours (on low) and it is comfortable. The batteries are definitely placed in the right locations - i never hit them with my arms while paddling. The only thing I am not crazy about is having to keep the temperature controller hanging outside of my wetsuit. I kept it close to my neck and it got flushed inside down my back which was okay because I did not need to change the settings. I plan to fashion a pocket on the outside of my wetsuit (using lycra and seam sealer)to keep it in place.

Heated surf shirt fit well and is comfortable. I haven't tried it in cold water yet but in 55 degree water under a 2 mil. suit it worked very well.

    It works

The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is that I have only used it twice, and don't know how durable it is or how long the batteries will last.

On a 30 degree new england december day at sunrise, with 48 deg water, I had the vest on high for 1.5 hrs and it cranked heat the entire time. High was almost too much. Used it with an oniel pyrotech 4/3

On a 42 degree, with 48 degree water, the low setting was almost too much.

Expensive, but on a cold day will keep you in the water longer. Worth the money

    Box

So I'm reviewing on the service here because I bought the Thermalution Heated Undersuit (15M) for a Christmas gift; it's wrapped under the tree.

It arrived not only super fast but packaged in a box that said "Economy Tampons" as per my request. Hey, I asked and they delivered and my bf has nooooo idea what really arrived on the porch as he avoided touching the box when he got home. Ha!

The larger coil should be in the arch of the back. That is the pivot point for all movement, it is in the Kidney area and its where you are most likely to been collecting water, especially if you are on a short board. Warming the shoulders is not a core warming.

I have used the heated shirt under my 4-3, year-old wetsuit for surfing in water that is about 50 degrees. It does not work as well as I had hoped. Heating the core is the stated objective, and it may do that fairly well. It feels warm to hot on my back while in use. However, by around 1.5 hours in the water my toes begin to go numb, so the heating of the core/trunk is not as effective as I would hope. This is while on medium setting. If I use it on high, it is too hot on my back.
Overall it is better than not having it, but it does not provide a qualitatively different experience in cold water. Ultimately I still get cold by the end of the session, just not as cold

Wet suit or dry suit it worked well . Started a swim without it on ,once I started to get shill I turn it on. Boy that was nice started to warm up in less than a minute. All I can say is try it.

Great ,I was nice and warm. We do Manatee Tours and do not move much, So we do get shilled in the water. This was the answer.

Heated shirt great for dry suit diving

I have used this shirt on several dives in 50 degree water under my dry suit wearing my summer garments. The dives average one hour which is a significant increase in dive time under the same conditions without the shirt. The reason why I do not want to shift to winter undergarments is because I would have to readjust my sidemount harness which would have an adverse effect on the type of training I am doing at my dive site. The heated wet suit shirt is amazing!

I have had my Thermalution for about 2 weeks now. So far battery life is good, it certainly lasts the 1-2 hours that I normally surf. I've been trying to keep the battery connectors clear (washing salt water off after every surf). My hands and feet have felt cold but the rest of me hasn't suffered. I love being able to turn up the heat if it is a cold and windy morning.

I have used my Thermalution Rash Vest bodysurfing in NZ 6 times now. We are moving in to winter here and people are paddling out with gloves and hoods. I am using an E Bomb Ripcurl 3/4 Steamer with 2ml fin socks and a Gath helmet with Go Pro camera mount and my Slyde Handboard so I am determined to be warm this winter. The first time I used my vest a couple of weeks ago I had to turn it off because I was too hot with it on the lowest setting. I bodysurfed for 4 hours two days ago and had it on low for the second hour and medium for the last two hours. It was still on after I came out of the water so that was on for three hours! The controller is a little tricky with fingers which are numb, but I managed ok. The test will be to keep me in the water through July and August coming up - our coldest months and I am anticipating using the hot setting, but so far ... I am absolutely stoked by this Thermalution vest`s capabilities! I cannot recommend this product highly enough! After reading the recent reviews of the three top brands, this vest comes out way on top and I can fully concur with the findings. Way to go guys!

Vest is an asset to surfing in cold water. It heats up very fast and provides enough heat that I had to turn the power to low several times. This is good because it prolongs battery life. It seems well constructed and was fairly comfortable underneath my 4/3 wetsuit. It's a little clunky but as battery technology improves I'm sure that the battery size will be reduced and will be less cumbersome. The heat is between the shoulder blades and a little down the back. In the future it would be nice if there were a much more even distribution of heat throughout a wetsuit including down the thighs and upper arms, but for now I highly recommend this product. It adds heat into your wetsuit and will make surfing cold water more enjoyable. (Santa Cruz, CA)

During our winter, we wouldn't wanna go into the water without it anymore. Really helps staying warm, thus allowing to reduce the wetsuit thickness. Long lasting battery power, easy and fast to charge. It'd be even nicer with the heating patch extending further down. Sometimes trouble with the controller after getting wet - very difficult to change levels. All in all, very satisfied with the gear and great service. Thanks guys.

I live on Hatteras Island and kite the Real Slick all winter. At first I was using a drysuit in the really cold weather (sub-50) but I found water was always getting in someplace and my feet and legs would get cold after about a half hour. Then I bought the Thermalution Surf Series (15M) and started using it under my 4/3 wetsuit. What a difference. Normally I could use this wetsuit down to about 50. With the heated vest I've had it on in 25mph winds with the air in the very low 40's and I feel like it's early fall! Literally, I get off the water when I get tired not cold! Not only am I warm but I'm kiting better too, simply because I don't fear the big chill of a flush.
I'm planning on using this vest for surfing too.
I pretty much stopped for the winter once the ocean got below 60 but I'm pretty sure I could be out there now (with the waters in the 40's with this vest.

I used my heated rashy for the first time the other day. I is toasty warm. It did leave a perfect red outline of the heating elements on my back for like 4 hours. It itched for a couple hours and was gone by the morning. I think it was from turning on my shirt on low under my dry wetsuit for a pre session warm up. No harm done, just wondering if that's normal. I think you guys could improve the design greatly, if you continue the heating elements lower down to the S1/ L5 disc area. I noticed my lower back problem zone could use direct heat. It would be nice if the elements wrapped around to the lower back and stopped at the "love handle" area.
    All together, it's awesome!

Wore this for the first time after Christmas - water temp around 42 degrees - air temp in the 30s and windy. I wore my 4/3 hooded wetsuit (instead of my full winter 6/4 suit) with the thermalution on low and I was nice and toasty. My friend was all bundled in his 6/4 suit, no thermalution, and he was cold. Even on low power, it is such a great feeling to have some heat hit you in the cold water. Like another reviewer said, never will the cold deter me from surfing again in the winter. Awesome product.

I was hesitant about the price. I read all the reviews and this product was rated the best. For me it comes down to this, I didn't like being cold during the winter months, this heated rash guard keeps me warm resulting in me surfing more often even when the waves aren't firing just cause coldness isn't a factor. When it is firing, I turn the rash guard on during the lulls. Bottom line, I surf more during winter because of this heated rash guard. Well worth the cash$$.

The headlines says it all- it is cold up in here in MA.
And yes, this another recommendation for the HWS. It is money well spent. I’d also recommend silicone ear plugs and beach cooler filled with blazing hot water. Use these tools with good wetsuit gear and you’ll be styling all the way through winter.

Bought 2 setups last winter for myself and girlfriend. We both teach kiteboarding and there are days we are out for hours either standing in the cold or sometimes teaching off a boat in cold water and wind. It was an expensive gamble to get 2 set ups but we are both totally happy with these and they have allowed us to downsize our wetsuits for more comfort. I got 2 sets of batteries because I sometimes go out for 3 hours then come in meet the next client(s) and go right back out. So I switch out batteries. This setup has made it much easier on us. Thanks...and highly recommend the product.

Pros: Battery life lasted longer than the listed time, which is a great thing.

Cons: The lower heating coil is less effective for me because the way the shirt fits on my body. The upper heating coil is pressed up against my back but the lower one isnt as tight of a fit as I would like.

This is my third heated surf shirt, and I am really happy and impressed. My first two were quicksilvers model. (You can see my review on Amazon.com. User pb4sc) The thermulation product is better built, 3 temp settings are awesome. (I have only used low so far) 2 batteries means longer water time. Built way better than the quicksilver model Fits great. My only wish was that it would have a turtle neck. A little pricey, but still a great product.

I flip on the switch and pretend I'm in Hawaii! I love the way the Thermalution works as well as the idea of it. I am a lot warmer when surfing in the frigid Nor Cal water. The only reason I don't give four stars is because the battery packs on either side are a little uncomfortable on my ribs. I wonder if they could put them on the back? I'm sure it's been thought of and might even be more uncomfortable there. Perhaps they just take some getting used to. Either way, totally worth it!

My first heated surfsession ever was great! The water was still 8 celsius and the air around 9, so normaly i wouldn't need extra warmth, but i tested the vest on the lowest setting and it was too hot! I was in the water for about two hours and i had to cool myself every ten minutes. So i think i will do fine when temperatures drop below 0 celcius. The only comment i have to make is that the vest comes with an electric plug that is not suited in holland ( whe need two round pins instead of flat ones) so i had to replace it!

    Thanks a lot,

There is only one thing I don't like about it and that is the weight of the batteries. I ride small shortboards so any extra weight isn't ideal. But turning on the heater in cold water feels amazing. I hope they come out with smaller batteries that work the same. Or I will just have to buy bigger boards :)

Great product. Thanks a ton. Can't wait for more exciting equipment from heatedweatsuits

I am currently using it with an old 2 mm wet suit with no seals in 24 degrees centigrade water at an average depth of 20 metres for 60 plus minutes. Heat is set at low and at the end of the dive I am still warm. The same applies to my second dive. and the battery recharge time is very short which suggests to me that a third hour would be possible.
I would like the battery and jacket plugs to be longer as it is a little difficult to unplug and I think that soon I may slip and damage the connections.
In all fairness I could not rate it as I have never used one before and the review insisted that I gave a rating

Surfed with my new heated rash guard last weekend for 3 days in the Straights of Juan De Fuca (50 Degree Water Temp). The heated liner was a complete game changer. I stayed out for over 2 hours with no gloves and was totally toasty! I can’t believe how much warmer my hands and feet are with that heater. I was expecting some minor heat benefit at the extremities but my hands and feet were as warm as they are in summer.

Had a chance to use it last weekend for a 3 mile downwind paddle on my standup paddleboard. Wind was gusting over 40MPH with some fun swell. The shirt was too hot to turn on for very long during the paddle but it was great when we were finished. Normally when you stop paddling, the clammy sweat and wind combine to make the wetsuit change miserable. I cranked the heat and left the shirt for last after getting pants and shoes on. My partner was shivering and cursing while he frantically changed. I had a leisurely change out in my toasty shirt!

Thank you for making a great product that really works. I will be highly recommending it to our surf crew.

I just started using the Thermalution here in the far north of New Zealand. The water temperature is about 15 celcius and the air around 10-17 celsius. I am using it under a 3/2 ebomb. Previously I was wearing a 0.5mm hotskin under the wetsuit, which would leave me with numb toes after a couple of hours. I've now replaced the hotskin with the Thermalution, which gives me more paddling freedom and no more numb toes.

I see a lot of people claiming that the higher settings are too hot for them. Personally, I start off on medium and then usually move to high after an hour or so. I find it comfortable and it definately keeps me warmer than before. No more numb toes! The battery seems to last a solid 2-2.5hrs too.

Disclaimer: I don't work for heatedwetsuits.com, I am not sponsored by them and I bought this at retail from the web site.

That said, this is a great product. I have only used it three times; this only does one thing, keep you warm and it works well. I have only used this on the low setting since the conditions I was in were not exactly extreme but, much colder than I would have gone out without having this on. 48F water and 44F air was about the average for all three sessions.

The batteries sit high enough that it does not interfere with the harness which was my main concern. The next was putting this on with a top opening wetsuit. I was able to work it over the batteries no problem.

It would have been an interesting test to not have this on and then go out but, I was warm and comfortable so, never wanted to take it off. The low setting was enough for me, maybe if the air was down below 40F I would use the medium setting but, I don't ever think I would use high.

On low, I got 2.5 hours out of it.

Nice product and the guys at heatedwetsuits.com were great to deal with..

Finally someone has created a good quality heated wetsuit product! The Thermalution gets HOT, and easily takes the bite out of those offshore winds on your back while sitting in the lineup. Not to mention, changing in and out of my wetsuit is a lot warmer now. That's a little bonus before and after a cold session.

My biggest complaint is that the battery connectors are very small and tough for a large person to fidget with. I'm 6'5", and connecting and screwing in the tiny battery connectors is frustrating when you have Gorilla fingers like me.

Other than that, I love it! It's crucial if you surf through the winter. Easily adds at least 2 hours to my cold tolerance each session!

I am a deer hunter and during the season I am in a tree stand before day break. That first hour when the sun is just rising was what I used to call the dreaded shaking in you boots extremely cold temperature hour. It was a shame because usually that was when I should have been on alert watching for deer instead of concentrating on staying warm. The first time I hunted with the Thermalution Heated Undersuit, I was amazed. I did not turn it on until I started to feel my feet and hands getting numb from the cold. I turned the suit on medium heat and within minutes my hands were warm and my feet were no longer numb. I had to turn the heat to low because I had worn too many layers of clothing. This is an awesome product. I actually look forward to climbing up into my tree stand on those 10 to 20 degree mornings and watch the sun rise in warmth.

I was fortunate to try out a fiend's Thermalution Undersuit. I am hard core when it comes to quality and this product exceeded my expectations! I broke a sweat sitting still in rain with temperatures near freezing. It heats up fast...I mean real fast! It is high quality, comfortable, hot, hot, hot, and I am pumped about using it while kayaking and hiking this winter. Get it now!

The amount of heat that comes out of this suit is incredible, and I still can't believe how good this suit is at heating your core. I keep my batteries fully charged at all times because I never know when I will use it. I am still surfing in my 3/2 wetsuit with water temps in the upper 40s in North Carolina. This suit has changed the way I feel about surfing in the winter. I wanted to get a heated vest this winter to see what it was all about. I chose to go with Thermalution over the Quiksilver Cypher Vest simply because of it having 2x the battery strength. Also, the batteries are much thinner and sit a a lot higher on the vest. Being a kiteboarder, as well as a surfer, I am so glad that I did! My friends have been cursing me on the water all winter, ha ha! Everything seems just a little more fun when you are warm! Buy this suit, and your friends with the Quiksilver Cypher Vest will be jealous of you! Thanks a ton. Very Stoked!
